About John
Service focus:
As an accomplished engineer, a respected leader, an experienced coach, and a practising Christian, John develops leaders whose businesses sustain our planet for generations to come.
He also provides training, mentoring and coaching in people management skills for new leaders, helping them to develop self-confidence and effectiveness as quickly as possible.
John has over 40 years of engineering based experience, including aerospace, machine tools, automotive, and data storage, with a Master of Science degree in Machine Design from Cranfield University, and 2 diplomas in coaching from The Coaching Academy in the UK.
His most recent employer was Hewlett Packard (HP), Bristol where he had been a people manager for 10 years, and had led the HP Coaching Network in the EMEA region, deploying coaches on various leadership development programmes within different HP businesses.
John enjoys being with his family, especially watching his 5 year old grandson growing up. At a more personal level, he spends his time keeping fit by running and cycling, and enjoys playing guitar. He also invests in his own learning and development via books, seminars, conferences, and book writing.
Experience
John has over 1,000 hours of coaching experience, mostly within HP, with a blend of 1:1 and group coaching on subjects which include leadership, delegation, inter-personal skills, confidence, career management, engagement, and goal setting.
In an effort to improve the leadership culture, he has most recently focused on the creation and delivery of coaching skills training for the top talent in UK and Ireland, and the Customer Solution Centre (CSC) organization in Sofia and Tunis, plus the Global Operations teams in Costa Rica.
In 2013, John delivered a global coaching program for 45 top talent directors in HP, having selected internal coaches from all 3 major regions.
Coaching style
John supports new leaders and people managers in their first 1-2 years, helping them to develop self confidence and effectiveness in their roles. Focused market is the low carbon energy generation sector, including solar, wind and nuclear.
John left HP (Hewlett Packard) in October 2013 to build his coaching business (MoreFrom Coaching Ltd) and to spend his working time coaching, mentoring, teaching, and developing others
