About Laura
I am a Certified Life Coach and Chartered Counselling Psychologist and I work with motivated and driven people who want to make a difference and move forward in their life, but who feel stuck and like something is holding them back.
I have worked as a leader in a corporate setting for years and in this position I learned a lot about leadership and helping teams and individuals progress, and unfortunately I also saw some examples of poor leadership, as well as what we might now call 'toxic' work culture. I had the amazing privilege to experience what it can be like when things are done well, and you love your team and your work, and you feel that you are making a difference. This inspired me to focus my interests more on coaching and I became a qualified coach with the goal of helping individuals and organisations to work smarter and to support them in creating better work environments.
Experience
Apart from my certification as a coach, I also hold a BSc, MSc, and PgDip in Psychology and the Practice of Counselling Psychology. I am chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and have experience of working as a therapist in the public, private, and voluntary sectors.
I have also worked in large international teams in corporate settings for 10 years. Most of this was in a leadership role, leading teams in Europe and Asia remotely, long before the pandemic made virtual teams necessary. In this role I learned a lot about how teams work, what holds a remote team together, and how to support individual team members' growth and progress, as well as helping them through difficult times or challenges such as low confidence, impostor syndrome, or stress and burnout.
I am also a certified and accredited DISC practitioner and can offer corporate and private clients DISC profiling to learn more about their communication and behaviour preferences.
As a result of my experience in these areas I can offer clients a unique perspective because I am able to look at a situation from all these angles and really get into my 'genius zone', which lies in the overlap of those areas, specifically with mental well-being and personal progress in mind.
Coaching style
In my coaching I draw on my experience as both a coach and psychologist, which allows me to help clients to understand patterns of behaviour, assumptions, and unhelpful habits that may keep them from achieving their goals and dreams.
I believe that the client is the expert on their own life and situation and that therefore all the answers and solutions should come from them. My role as the coach is to help the client to learn more about themselves, their experiences and their environment, and how all these might come together to keep the client stuck. Based on this newly gained self-awareness I then support clients in exploring possible solutions and empower them to start taking action towards them.
