About Lawrie
I am a pragmatic senior leader who retired from policing in May 2012 after 31 years service.
In my final years of police service I served as both a Chief Superintendent and Assistant Chief Constable. As a Chief Superintendent I was head of a specialist Operations Department with lead responsibility for Firearms Command, Roads Policing, Major Events Planning, Public Disorder Policing, Air Support, Maritime and Airport Policing and as an Assistant Chief Constable I held corporate responsibility for Communications, Professional Standards and Information Management & Compliance.
My policing experience took me into many arenas, often juggling on a daily basis competing demands, ranging from leading fast moving critical incidents or major public events through the plethora of challenges facing leaders with responsibility for several hundred staff, multiple sites across a diverse geographic area and a multi-million pounds operating budget at a time of unprecedented change and transformation for policing. Over the years my training equipped me well, not only to deal with the personal challenges of the roles I held but also to support, mentor and coach others to success.
In June 2012 I set up my company LTL Associates Ltd. Drawing on my years of experience and training the focus of LTL Associates is - Promoting excellence in leadership through performance coaching, management consultancy and bespoke training solutions. My client list has been consistent, never having to advertise my services, enjoying long term management consultancy relationships with SMEs in the technology sector and overseas training opportunities where the end clients were NATO, EuroCorp and the Kenyan Police Service. I have recently added a national hotel chain and a small photography company to my active client list.
Experience
I was first introduced to coaching as a stand alone skill set in 2005 and used it from then on as an element in all that I did through my police career to develop others.
When I first set up LTL Associates it was the obvious transferrable skills I possessed that won me contracts. However as those contracts flourished and I was steered into new areas that I had less obvious experience in, marketing being a clear example, it was my understanding of the coaching model and ability to coach others to find powerful solutions that drew out as much success from my clients as I was otherwise able to do by using the consultancy and training tools also at my disposal.
I have coached individuals through many different situations including work/life balance, career change, preparing for retirement in addition to career related performance at both personal and group level.
