About Michael
After studying chemistry at Imperial College in the '60s, where I was an occasional attender at lectures, my first career was in sales and marketing management in the international chemical industry. That led me to working with Scandinavian companies. I then set up and ran a small training consultancy, designing and delivering courses in business communication skills combined with the English language, for clients in Norway and Sweden. I then worked for a major charity in the health field, first in fundraising and then in media liaison, focusing mostly on radio and TV interviews.
I'm 70 and have no intention of ever retiring. I live in the beautiful and creative city of Bristol.
I am a self-published author and a professional voice actor as well as a coach.
Experience
I've coached informally for several years. I've also run a coaching group in Bristol under the Life Clubs brand.
I'm currently in the process of completing The Coaching Academy's Diploma in Personal Performance Coaching.
I'm also trained in psychometric profiling by the DISC method.
Coaching style
I have passed what could be called "retirement age". However I have never liked the idea of retirement, preferring reinvention. I am therefore interested in coaching anyone who also wants to reinvent themselves. No matter what their age.
I am also a coach & mentor for reluctant speakers. By that I mean especially those who have speaking thrust upon them, be it a work assignment or a daughter's wedding. I help with everything from planning the speech to handling the stress that most people encounter in this situation.
Finally I also coach people who find themselves in debt crisis, when stress can make decision-making difficult or impossible. This kind of work I do on a pro bono basis.
