I see my role as a coach to act as a guide, a light-bearer, a rain-maker, a confidante, a challenger, a mirror, and even as a wizard with a magic wand!
My clients receive uninterrupted space and time to examine their thought processes, explore their needs, voice their desires, and establish a routine in which goal-setting and action-planning becomes natural and enjoyable. We are rarely afforded this specialised time to focus on ourselves which makes the coaching relationship unique, compared with our relationships at work, in business, and at home.
Your role as the client is to be honest and open about your goals, aspirations, values and beliefs. To understand that you are ultimately responsible for the results you get and to commit to taking action to achieve these results. Your opportunity for success is directly related to how ready and willing you are to make real changes.

What does Quality of Life mean to you?
Far too frequently we are seduced, or coerced, into spending more time, energy and focus on our work and our careers than on our home lives, our personal interests, or our health and well-being. It follows then that finding the resources within to breathe life into our dreams, goals and aspirations can often become an after-thought, or a never-event. This imbalance is incredibly damaging to our mind-body-spirit patterns, with harmful effects on our relationships, our professional capacity and our sense of self. By uniting these essential aspects we learn the secret to success: That greatness is built on harmony and balance in our life, our communication, and our work.

This was the founding belief that led me to build The Quality of Life Coaching Practice, and was the central theme of my first book, Big When Little When - The Guide to Restoring Work/Life Balance for Health and Front-line Care Professionals. The book was inspired by and written for NHS Professionals, Paramedics, Doctors, Surgeons, Care Workers and Mental Health workers, and Army/Police/Fire Services and all the other amazing teams who support patients and the public in their work, in the belief that by offering a greater quality of life for those in healthcare, trauma, and front-line care roles, they will be less stressed, more positive, and able to achieve higher performance, with these benefits being naturally passed on to their colleagues and patients.

When the NHS underwent transformation towards GP-led commissioning, the staff of the NHS entered the first wave of redundancies and national service redesign. The impact felt by employees across the NHS was one of uncertainty, high anxiety and stress. The pressure on me personally was challenging and stressful, and it got so difficult that I was forced to look at my life in a different way.
I didn't want to work under those conditions. I enjoyed working but that seemed ridiculous. Most of all I wanted to be in charge of my own future and be my own boss. I decided there and then that I would never again let an organisation dictate my future.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------It was my personal experience of working in challenging corporate environments, poorly performing teams, and a stressful redundancy process in the NHS that led me to take a new path into performance and executive coaching in 2011, to understand what gets in the way of people achieving their best; in business, and with each other, and why stress has become such a prolific word in our vocabulary.

Being a performance coach is a perfect fit for me because I can help other people achieve their Quality of Life while also achieving mine. By the power of telephone and internet, I can be serving my clients at times that suit their schedule, or I can hop on a plane and be at their business location within a day.
One of my BIG passions is travel and property investment. I have an apartment and office on the Red Sea in Egypt where I love to scuba dive, watch the stars out in the desert, and explore the ancient ruins along the Nile. When people ask what Quality of Life means to me, my escape by the Red Sea always brings a smile to my face.
