With a passion for personal development, I believe that becoming an expert in your own life at any age is the key to success. The exam results our boarders achieve will get them places, but it is the emotional intelligence and character that boarding creates that will give you the edge in a competitive world. My first ( scary) move to Asia in 2009 was inspired by stepping into my boarders shoes was life changing and as such I returned again in 2012 to be the driving force in starting up boarding in a new international school.
I have had the boarding dilemmas', worked my way up to my dream job only to find it was not what I wanted and been chair of the escape committee! Professionally, my boarding career to date spans various positions from house tutor to deputy head working in both the UK and Asia. At all stages of my life, I bear two key values in mind – the importance of stepping into the other persons shoes and everyone is someone’s child. It is this focus, combined with specialist coaching training, which has allowed me to achieve amazing results both as an education professional and a qualified life coach. It has taken me a few years to come up with my favourite line - you are more than just boarding !
A thought leader in boarding education, my articles have been published in the Australian Boarding Schools Association Magazine – Lights Out. Her forthcoming series of books, Boarding Today Building Tomorrow, combine expertise and innovation to prepare communities for the challenges of boarding today. I have presented at the Australian Boarding Schools Association and I never miss a chance to have a chat or a chocolate bar !!
Experience
As an international coach, I have worked with both individuals and organisations. I have also taken opportunities to become involved in volunteer work both in Asia and the UK. From coaching at the UK's first Youth Leadership Festival, mentoring senior managers through the Aspire Foundation or supporting public speaking training for the Princes Trust. In Asia, I have led coaching training for senior managers and career coaching seminars for teachers. I believe in paying it forward to help others achieve their goals.
I have trained with both the Coaching Academy and International Coaching Alliance. I am also a member of the Institute Of Leadership ( ILM).
